The new mechanical Ergopower Super Record shifting brake lever from Campagnolo is more ergonomic, more precise, more powerful and easier to maintain than all previous models – and than the competition, of course. This makes this Campagnolo lever and the included brake caliper for disc brakes an upgrade for every road bike.
Comfort and control – the Super Record 2×12-speed disc Ergopower brake lever from Campagnolo
Speed and responsiveness are among the most important features of a bicycle’s shift and brake levers. And, given the high speeds, it’s particularly important to be in control of the situation at all times when riding a road bike. Thanks to the new Vari-Cushion technology, the Super Record 12×2 speed Ergopower mechanical shifters for disc brakes offer an even more comfortable surface to rest on and various grip options that are as ergonomic as they are comfortable and secure: essential features for anyone who wants to spend hours on the bike.
Inside the shifters lies the result of the latest technology and many years of experience. Firstly, there is the “one lever – one action” system, which assigns one function to each lever and thus avoids shifting errors in the event of fatigue or in hectic situations. Secondly, there is the optional multiple shifting operation, which is based on the Ultra-Shift mechanism and with which the chain can be moved by three steps when downshifting and up to five when upshifting. This means that road cyclists do not need to change their pedalling rhythm even in the event of unforeseen bumps or speed corrections.
Other useful functions are the variability of the levers and the adjustment for riders with smaller hands thanks to Reach Adjustment as well as the AMS Adjustment, which makes it possible to choose between two different modulation options for the braking power.
The flat-mount Campagnolo brake calipers ensure powerful, modular braking in any situation owing to pistons measuring 22 millimetres in diameter. The pad return is now optimised to ensure that there is no friction when the brake lever is released. A special metal plate positioned between the pad and the caliper piston, cushions the vibrations during braking. The different Campagnolo brake calipers were designed to be mounted together with the disc chosen by the rider and to always guarantee the highest level of performance. It is indeed possible to choose the brake caliper with a disc measuring either 140 mm (limited to cyclists weighing no more than 82 kg) or 160 mm in diameter. Careful attention was given to making maintenance and assembly operations easy: the pads have wear indicators and replacing them is facilitated by the absence of physical return springs. Additionally, work was done on the insertion of the disc in the caliper to make changing the wheel easier and faster.
